Collagen Induction Aftercare

Healing Aftercare

Collagen induction via microneedling or PRF injections are safe and effective ways to improve skin tone, texture and color.

As you have chosen to invest in your skin, for maximum benefit, it is crucial to follow aftercare protocol.

I want you to get the most out of your treatments.

CRUCIAL MICRO NEEDLING POST-CARE STEPS:

  1. CLEAN

Tonight you will use damp hands and pat off any stickiness. Use Skinceuticals CE serum, four drops patted into damp skin. The CE serum is approved for post procedure and promotes healing. Reapply B5 Gel as needed for comfort.

In the AM use a very gentle cleanser and tepid water to rinse the face over the next 72 hours. Gently dry the treated area, apply CE serum and mineral sunscreen if headed out into the world. If home continue B5 gel. After 24 hours you can use your regular home regime.

Be mindful not to touch you face and keep hands as clean as possible. It is recommended that you do not use powdered  cleansing brushes for at least seven days after Micro needling.

  2. HYDRATE

The treated area of your skin may appear much drier than normal after the treatment. I recommend Augustus Bader Rich Cream as a potent healing adjunct. But any stem cell based cream will be beneficial, or you favorite moistening product. You may go through a particularly dry period at day 4 ish. This is normal and is part of the healing process.

  3. HOLISTIC HEALING

Vitamin C promotes collagen induction and skin healing. I love Liposomal vitamin C twice a day. Collagen supplementation shows promising data. Isagenix has a marine based collagen that is yummy and packed with other skin boosters. Vegan options at Anima Mundi are potent herbal alternatives. I like to hit all angles and do them both. I recommend Skinceuticals CE antioxidant serum daily as the gold standard in the antioxidant arena, healing, protecting and improving your skin quality over time. There are two other vitamin c alternatives True Botanicals and Goop Glow.

  4. SUN PROTECTION

It’s very important to apply chemical-free sunscreen to your skin right after the treatment and keep using it for the rest of your life:} I love Elta MD, they have a good range, the UV restore is one of my go to products.

ADDITIONAL AFTERCARE TIPS

  • Avoid any products with chemicals, ensure you sunscreen is mineral based.

  • Avoid using any kind of powered cleansing brushes during the following week.

  • Avoid direct sun exposure for up to 72 hours post-treatment/ or until skin redness has resolved. Doing this too early may result in uneven skin pigment.

  • No Tanning beds EVER again!

  • No swimming for up to 24 hours.

  • Make sure you do not work out for the first 24 hours after the treatment as sweating can lead bacteria and exposure to adverse reactions in the treated areas of your skin.
